Governance, Leadership and Membership

The governance structure of the Council includes:

1. The General Assembly (Affiliates);

2. Board of Directors; and

3. The Secretariat.

 

1. The General Assembly (Affiliates)

Currently we have over 250 youth organizations registered with NYCOM, which are spread-out throughout Malawi and working in various areas such as:-

HIV and AIDS, youth reproductive health, drug and alcohol abuse mitigation, climate change and environmental conservation, good governance, information communications and technology (ICT), orphan care, among others. For more information and profiles of our Affiliates visit the Youth Directory.

 

2. The Board of Directors (The Council)

The Board of directors is the governing body of the Council and is comprised of the following members:

a. Seven youth from seven registered youth NGO's

b. Three members appointed by the Minister responsible for youth

c. Three representatives from religious institutions

d. One member from a women's organizations

e. Eight ex-officio members representing line ministries

 

3. The Secretariat

The Secretariat is headed by the Executive Director who is responsible for the day to day running of the Secretariat and overall coordination of the Council's activities. Click here to see the amazing team at the Secretariat.

 

The Secretariat works with the youth affiliate organizations, government ministries and a variety of donors to run workshops, trainings and a range of programs focused on youth health, participation, economic empowerment and capacity building.
